Please note that many of philosophical concepts like reductionism, holism, emergence etc are also naturally systems thinking concepts (Emergence is closely related to Holism) which are used for developing software/hardware system or any other complex engineered product. Even while developing a story as a engineered product these concepts can be used to analytically divide a story into pieces (reductionism) and then synthetically to check how the story emerge as a whole. Story development follows evolutionary model which is similar to concepts in biology & software development.
